Developing Hockey IQ!

What is the difference between average players and the top performers in our game? It is their ability to read the game and have the awareness to anticipate plays, being in the right position at the right time or making that perfect pass. This workshop will explore the ways we can teach players to develop their hockey IQ through a series of drills and creative games designed to improve their performance.

During the game, you can use certain tactics to outsmart your opponents. Using tactics could mean the difference between winning and losing but do your players understand them? In this workshop coaches will explore the individual offensive and defensive skills required to teach basic to advanced team tactics that will help to prepare your team for those big games.

Effective checking for today’s game

Is body checking the most effective way to gain possession of the puck/ball in todays game? Pete Winn will present examples of how to teach body contact using the four-step progressions required to teach players the correct techniques for receiving and making stick and body checks the safe way, the efficient way, the correct way.

It examines and explores the five proven techniques in build successful teams that can be incorporated in to your new or current hockey program and sheds light on how recruit, retain players and coaches to compete and improve performance on a consistent basis.

Developing great netminders

Are your goalies developed or just target practice? understanding how to coach and develop the goalies in your program can be incredibly challenging especially if they have never played in this position. In this workshop Chris Orme will guide coaches both novice and advanced on how best to develop their goalies during training and games.
